Improvisation is at the core of jazz music and dancing, but it can also be tricky to let ourselves go and be in the moment. In this workshop we will learn the fundaments of jazz and swing music, movement and expression. We will explore different techniques and exercises that can help us improvise more and better, we will work on letting go of our inner critics. Through movement and exploration we will also learn about the swing dance history, culture and core values of the dance.

Exploring movement and space: we'll work on waking up different parts of our bodies, letting it move in different ways, playing with various qualities, speeds and levels of the movement. We'll find ways to fill and use the space we have.

Listening and reacting: we'll start by doing less, learning how to give ourselves time to listen and choose how to react, picking up what we hear in the music so we can respond accordingly.

/This workshop is open to all levels, we will work on our solo dancing/

Pedagogue: Ona Elzbieta Visnevskyte
